Abstract

The article explores strategic planning experience of the Industry 4.0 development in Vietnam. The object of the study is the content of the draft national strategy for Industry 4.0 development in Vietnam.

The main attention is paid to the strategic prospects analysis and critical strategic tasks for the country in the context of digital transformation. Based on the materials of the draft national strategy for the fourth industrial revolution until 2030 and the data of national statistics, the current state of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam and its role in the digital transformation of the national economy are shown.

The authors used materials from official Vietnamese sources, international organizations and companies specializing in conducting field social and economic research. Based on the challenges facing the country in the development of Industry 4.0, an analysis of the business community’s willingness for transformation and of the human resources state has been carried out. It is concluded that, in general, Vietnam has the potential to implement strategic objectives. The priority importance of education system modernizing for the success of the Industry 4.0 development strategy and sustainable economic growth achieving in Vietnam is substantiated.

Conclusions and recommendations made in the article may be useful to researchers studying the issues of strategic planning of digital transformation and its economic results, as well as to representatives of government organizations related to these areas.
