Abstract
The article deals with the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Africa, the program adopted by the UN in 2000. It focuses on the main target of MDG 1 - eradication of extreme poverty, that is to cut down twice as much the share of population with income less than 41 руб. per person a day in the period between 1990 and 2015. The author underlines that Sub-Saharan Africa seriously lags behind other developing regions of the continent in achieving these goals.
